Years 3–13 · Maths, English & Sciences

Small-group tuition that builds real confidence

Six learners to a room, one subject specialist, and the same tutor every week. We teach the topics your child is actually covering at school — then prove the progress in writing each half-term.

No contracts · Half a term's notice to leave

  • Group size

Six learners maximum in every session, grouped by working level rather than by school year alone.

  • Session length

Ninety minutes: a short recap, taught input on the current topic, then independent practice with the tutor circulating.

  • Progress reporting

A written note at every half-term covering what was covered, what improved, and what we are working on next.

How a term runs

Four steps from first visit to a written review

Nothing here is a surprise. You will know the plan for your child's term before you pay for a single session.

  1. 01

    Baseline assessment

A relaxed written task and a short conversation, so we can place your child by what they can already do rather than by age.

  2. 02

    Term plan

We map the term against your child's school scheme of work and exam board, then share the topic list with you before enrolment.

  3. 03

    Weekly sessions

The same tutor, the same room, the same slot each week. Consistency is what turns an hour and a half into a habit.

  4. 04

    Half-term review

A written progress note and, if anything needs changing, a call to agree the adjustment before the next block begins.

Programmes

Five teaching lanes, each with its own room

Choose by the stage your child is at. If you are unsure, the baseline assessment decides it for you.

Years 3–6

Primary foundations

Arithmetic fluency, reasoning problems, reading comprehension and extended writing. We rebuild the number facts and sentence structures that everything later depends on, using the same methods your child's school uses so nothing contradicts.

FormatOne 90-minute session weekly
GroupUp to 6 learners
FocusMaths & English combined

Years 7–9

Key Stage 3 core

The quiet years where gaps open without anyone noticing. We track algebra, ratio and geometry alongside analytical writing, and keep a running list of the specific topics your child has not yet secured.

FormatOne or two 90-minute sessions weekly
GroupUp to 6 learners
FocusMaths, English or both

Years 10–11

GCSE maths & sciences

Taught by specification, not by textbook. Separate foundation and higher groups, weekly exam-technique practice on past paper questions, and required practicals revisited for combined and triple science.

Format90 minutes per subject weekly
GroupUp to 6 learners
BoardsAQA, Edexcel, OCR

Years 10–11

GCSE English language & literature

Set texts read closely, then written about under timed conditions. Every learner leaves with a marked response each fortnight and a clear sense of what the mark scheme is actually rewarding.

FormatOne 90-minute session weekly
GroupUp to 6 learners
MarkingFortnightly written feedback

Years 12–13

A-Level maths & physics

Smaller still, and more demanding. Pure and applied modules run on alternating weeks, with mechanics taught alongside the physics that uses it so the two subjects reinforce each other rather than compete.

FormatTwo-hour evening seminar
GroupUp to 4 learners
FocusPure, mechanics, statistics

The rooms

Four teaching rooms and a quiet homework floor

Each room seats six at a single table, so nobody sits at the back. Whiteboards run the full wall, and every room has a visualiser for working through questions line by line.

  • A supervised homework floor open on Friday evenings for enrolled learners
  • Reading corner stocked with the set texts for every English group we teach
  • Waiting area with seating for parents who prefer to stay
Stacked textbooks, workbooks and lined notepads on a wooden shelf

Materials

Everything your child needs is already here

We write our own topic booklets against each exam board specification and print them in-house, so there is no separate book list and nothing to buy before the first session.

  • Topic booklets and answer sheets included in the session fee
  • Past paper banks organised by topic rather than by year
  • Set texts and revision guides loaned for the length of the course

Questions

What parents ask before enrolling

What happens if a group is already full?

We hold a waiting list per group and never add a seventh chair to a room. If a slot will not open within a fortnight we will say so at the trial session and suggest the nearest alternative time or level, rather than leaving you waiting on the list indefinitely.

Can we make up a missed session?

Yes. Tell us before the session and your child can join the equivalent group later in the same week where one runs, or attend the Saturday clinic for that stage. Missed sessions without notice are not refunded, but the booklets and worked answers for that week are always sent home.

Do you teach our school's exam board?

We teach AQA, Edexcel and OCR at GCSE and A-Level. Tell us the board at enrolment and your child is placed in the matching group. Where a group mixes boards, the shared content is taught together and the board-specific material is set as targeted practice.

Will this add to my child's homework load?

Only lightly, and deliberately so. We set one short consolidation task a week — typically twenty to thirty minutes — chosen to reinforce the session rather than to fill time. School work always takes priority, and tutors will adjust if a deadline week is heavy.

How will I know whether it is working?

Beyond the half-term written note, tutors are available for a short conversation at the end of any session. If something changes at school — a disappointing mock, a new set placement, a topic that has not landed — tell us and we will adjust the plan the following week.

How much notice do we need to give to leave?

Half a term. There is no contract and no minimum commitment beyond that; let us know before the current half-term ends and nothing further is billed. Places are released to the waiting list at that point.

Book a trial

Start with a free Saturday session

Tell us a little about your child and we will suggest a group and a time. There is nothing to pay for the trial, and no obligation afterwards.

  1. We reply with two or three suitable Saturday slots.
  2. Your child sits the baseline assessment and joins a real group.
  3. You receive a written placement note with our recommendation.
  4. If you enrol, the weekly slot is held for the rest of the term.

We use your details only to arrange the trial and to reply to your enquiry.
